SMART INVESTING WITH CLARITY™
Helping clients reach their goals is our top priority. That's why we utilize Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs). SMAs are accounts managed by professional money manager(s), where the securities held in the portfolios are owned by individual investors and are not commingled with anyone else's money — unlike mutual funds or ETFs. SMAs provide the power and flexibility to customize and manage our investors' portfolios to meet their unique needs and specifications.
There's no comparison, SMAs offer investors clear advantages compared to Mutual Funds and ETFs:
• SMAs provide the liquidity needed to take advantage of tax efficiencies
• SMAs provide the transparency needed for investors to obtain peace of mind with their investments
• SMAs provide the customization and control needed to ensure proper diversification and asset allocation
CUSTOMIZATION AND CONTROL TO BETTER MANAGE YOUR PORTFOLIO
We utilize SMAs to provide you with a true custom portfolio. We know that each investor is different. Yet many advisors put investors into the same mutual funds and ETFs, offering them little more than a cookie-cutter approach. At Nepsis, we are different.
Our SMART approach combines the art of experienced investment management with enhanced personalized service and increased flexibility to construct and manage portfolios across the spectrum of asset classes.
• Diversification without over-diversification
• Experienced active portfolio management
• Transparency to understand holdings and fees
• Flexibility to leverage tax advantages and stock market volatility
PERSONALIZED PORTFOLIO CONSTRUCTION
Our portfolio construction process is centered around you and your unique needs and wishes. It is rooted in what we call, our “Four Keys to Successful Investing” – Investment Philosophy, Strategy, Flexibility & Transparency™.
THE FOUR KEYS TO INVESTING FOR SUCCESS
Be an investor in great companies, not the ”stock market”, by investing in great undervalued companies/brands with a strict adherence to our investment process. We believe diversification is important, but appropriate asset allocation is essential. Over-diversification can bring portfolio dilution and a lack of flexibility to manage a portfolio as efficiently and effectively as possible, especially in volatile times.
We invest in great businesses in great industries, not the “stock market”. This perspective allows us to capitalize on stock market volatility due to other investors’ fear, greed and/or lack of Investment Clarity.
Our Strategy looks to increase our positions in companies with strong fundamentals when the appropriate opportunity allows, while also using our specific Sell Disciplines to manage portfolios efficiently and effectively. Fundamental investment principles and analysis drive our strategy. We do not attempt to “time the market” but rather invest in strong companies over time. To accomplish this, we utilize our process called, Strategic Cost Averaging™, allowing for continual rebalancing based on investor’s investment objectives.
We believe that the investment Philosophy and Strategy are the empirical components of successful investing, while Flexibility and Transparency are the behavioral aspects. To be successful in investing, you need both to execute a sound investment plan. Our investment process provides investors the flexibility and Clarity needed to take advantage of market volatility and specific portfolio withdrawal needs. Our proactive approach allows for tax management, as well as other adjustments, based on unforeseen changes in the economy, companies we own.
In a world where fear drives many investor decisions, and trust is the foundation of a great relationship, we believe Transparency is paramount. Our clients have the ability to know exactly what companies they are investing in (equities, bonds, etc…) and why. We believe it is investment clarity that allows investors to “stick to the knitting” during uncertain times. Additionally, our clients have the ability to closely monitor their own portfolios as Nepsis does not act as a custodian of any securities.
ACTIVE MONEY MANAGEMENT
We provide a straightforward and sensible process to portfolio management; seeking to invest in great businesses, over time.
Through our process of Strategic Cost Averaging™, we continue to invest in these great companies when opportunities arise due to market and valuation inefficiencies. It’s simple, back to basic investment thinking, backed by in-depth research and disciplined execution best practices.
We closely examine the businesses we are considering investing in over time through a thorough “top down” and “bottom up” analysis. We look at long-term fundamentals utilizing our valuation matrix to determine what businesses we believe will be successful in the long term. Investing in great companies is a process over time requiring a strict discipline to this time-tested process.
Once we begin to invest in a company, we continue to purchase more of that company, when appropriate to the portfolio allocation, through Strategic Cost Averaging™, provided the investment continues to comply with our investment thesis and portfolio allocation requirements. We are constantly monitoring fundamentals and opportunities to take advantage of market volatility & other inefficiencies.
We are very active in the management of client portfolios. In most situations, our clients do not pay any ticket charges as part of our portfolio management. Therefore, Strategic Cost Averaging™ (SCA) provides peace of mind for our clients that we are completely aligned with their objectives. SCA allows for the ongoing process in following our investment buy discipline and sell discipline.
Our SCA process is unique and important to our portfolio management strategy, as it allows complete flexibility in the management of your portfolio. This flexibility is extremely important to the long-term success of investing. SCA provides us with the ability to continually invest in great businesses over time, while simultaneously providing us with the flexibility to sell a portion of a business under our Sell Discipline.
An appropriately diversified AND asset allocated portfolio has a lot of moving parts. Every position in our portfolios is owned for a specific reason. Investing is a process of looking at the sum of the parts and not overly focusing on the parts individually. When investments we own are partially or totally sold out of the portfolio, it is done for specific reasons to ensure the integrity of the asset allocation and investment objectives. Due to the way our portfolios are structured, there is not any one position that will make or break a portfolio's long-term objective or performance. We continually monitor the markets and valuations of our investments, while always looking to improve portfolio integrity by assessing new opportunities on an ongoing basis.
We have four sell disciplines that we adhere to in our investment process -
• Selling a company when the long-term fundamentals change.
• Selling a portion of a position to lock in profits to raise cash for other opportunities or cash needs.
• Selling a weaker company in favor of a stronger, less expensive company. This happens most frequently during market corrections or corrections with a sector or sectors.
• Selling a position to take a loss against current or future gains. This is called Tax-Loss Harveting.
